Tim Churchward Chairman |
Hello Fellow Anglers,
It is my pleasure to welcome you
all to the 42nd Torbay Borough Sea Angling Festival.
Firstly, on a sad note, our
president Jim Laing passed away earlier this year after a long battle with
Cancer. Jim will be remembered as a great envoy for the festival for many
years and will be sorely missed. Angling also lost another supporter in Stan
Rowe, who also passed away. Stan will be remembered for his service to
angling and the Torbay Festival, through his weekly reports in the Herald
Express. Our condolences go out to both families.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank the festival committee for all their
hard work over the last 12 months, especially our secretary Paul Vaggers. Thank you all very much!
Great news that Abu Garcia have
agreed to sponsor us again, Thank you Abu Garcia!
This year, we have put the
weekly entry ticket up to £35 for all nine days. We regret having to take
this decision, however, I still feel this is a reasonable price for 9
days fishing when compared with other competitions. The daily rate stays at
£5.
The junior section entry has
remained at £3
a day and £20 for
the full 9 days, also the specimen weight for junior anglers is 40% of
specimen.
There is concern that some people do
not fully understand the festival rules, so please read them.
Commercial anglers fishing on a
commercial boat, need a dispensation certificate.
Please help us to keep this a
sporting competition!
I would like for as many people
as possible to attend the presentation evening and help support the R.N.L.I.
raffle, the presentation will be held on the 2nd of October at
the Hoburne Centre, Grange Road, Goodrington, Paignton. I would like to
thank to Torbay Council for supporting this night.
Have a great Torbay Festival and catch lots of specimen
fish.
Good Luck and Happy Fishing
Yours sincerely,

Chairman - Torbay Borough Sea Angling Festival 2010
